Graphic designers are visual communicators. They communicate ideas through the use of visuals and design. Since that involves finding the best approach to communicate an idea, they are primarily visual communication problem solvers.
Being a designer is akin to being a symphony composer. The designer orchestrates the string, woodwind, brass, and percussion sections to play, well — beautiful music. That means knowing how each instrumentalist contributes to a composition to acheive a desired sound. So, designers bring a “big picture” or orchestral view to the theater.
